Our Training Philosophy
Collum's Retrievers was built on a simple belief — every dog has the potential to be an elite gun dog. It just takes the right trainer, the right method, and the right commitment.
At Collum's Retrievers, we specialize in developing reliable, high-performing gun dogs with a strong foundation in obedience, marking, and real-world hunting scenarios. Only taking in a select number of dogs, which gives each dog adequate amount of time daily to bring out the best in them. Whether you’re looking for a finished hunting companion or a competitive hunt test dog, our program is built to deliver results.
About Collum's Retrievers
Every dog that comes through our program is treated like our own. We take the time to understand each dog's temperament, drive, and learning style — then build a program around them.
Collum's Retrievers training facility is conveniently located in Elkhart, Texas on 128 acres providing an ideal environment for focused training. Just a short scenic drive from many major cities located in North East Texas.

Building Dogs - One Layer at a Time!
We believe in building dogs that are confident, biddable, and reliable in the field. Our methods are rooted in positive reinforcement and clear communication — no shortcuts, no gimmicks. A finished gun dog should be a pleasure to hunt with, not a liability.
Foundation First
Every program starts with obedience and relationship-building before advanced fieldwork begins.
Individual Approach
No two dogs are the same. We tailor every program to the individual dog's drive, temperament, and goals.
Owner Education
We keep owners informed and involved. A trained dog needs a trained handler — we make sure you're ready too.
